Backgrounds - Polished Stone

This is a lovley marbled effect for a background.  The blending and various tones of colour, one can achieve, are magical and this background is one I personally like to emboss images onto.

Upsy Diasy powder embossed in white and mounted on Not Quite Navy, Marina Mist (embossed in Vintage Wallpaper 120175) and Crumb Cake

Materials :-
glossy card stock, one or two re-inkers for the backgound, shimmer paint, Rubbing Alcohol, cotton balls and stamp set
Method:-
Step 1 Wet cotton ball liberally with rubbing alcohol

Step 2 dot re-inkers on cotton ball with a couple of small drops of shimmer paint (I use a tooth pick to dot the paint onto the cotton ball)
Step 3 randomly dab the cotton ball over the card stock
Step 4 with a twisting motion randomly dab over the card filling in the white areas until you get the desired effect
Step 5 stamp or emboss image onto background once card is dry
Step 6 cut card to size and assemble project.

The shimmer paint gives the background a mica fleck and a shimmer all over.  I just love using the SU shimmer paints and any colour works well.

Sense of Time is another purrrfect stamp set to use with this technique.  The colours used here were Perfect Plum, More Mustard and Pumpkin Pie with one being a lot darker than the other...

This is such an effective background, I hope you enjoy trying it out.  I sure will be using it again.
Thanks for stopping by, happy crafting,
