Beautiful Wings Embosslits Dies

I love this embosslit - Stampin' Up! Beautiful Wings, just one of the many formats of tools that can be used in the Big Shot or cuttlebug.  These dies not only cut out the shape but also emboss the shape, hence the name embosslit, and in this case the embossed shape is butterflies.  These cards are from my something OLD collection, but I would like to share them with you......

Yellow, blue and white; SU's Daffodil Delight (satin ribbon no longer available), Tempting Turquoise and Whisper White, is always a refreshing combination and with a little bling, although simple, I really like this card.  The wording is from the retired 119163 Cottage Garden

And another simple example using the butterflies on Whisper White.  The frames are drawn on using a rectangular card template.  This gives the uneven but straight lines...I like that look


Playing with colours and bling/pearls, again something very simple using Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Rose Red and Perfect Plum complemented with thank you stamps from the retired 115930 Thank You Kindly

and a litle closer....

And for a spot of colour I used the SU DSP and pleated ribbon from a past mini - how I LOVE this ribbon....

My beautiful son loves this card, it is a spinner card I made for Ben's Grandmother, the colours inspired from the colour of the clothing we bought for her...Wisteria, Pink Pirouette, Certain Celery and of course whisper white. There is another example of making the card with Catherine Pooler.

The embossing folder is 155964 Elegant Bouquet is highlited with 102023 Dazzling Diamonds and coloured with coordinating markers.  The wording is from the beautiful 121500 Curly Cute. Love, love, love that lettering.

Christmas Card 24

This is the last of my Christmas Card posts, for 2012;  Merry Christmas to my dear and valued customers and friends, this is an example of the gift I gave to my hostesses, without them I could not achieve my targets, enjoy the company of others and have the opportunity to meet so many others, so thank you.

It is a simple version of an easel card, but Carolyn's (a fellow demonstrator) creativity and willingness to share, showed demonstrators how to dress it up into this very smart Calendar and post-it-note gift.  I was so taken with Carolyn's idea, I just had to make these.


This is just a very small sample of the cards I made.  I wish I could have given all of my customers one...if only there was a stop button on time...

It was a mamoth task to dream I could have pulled together 22 card ideas, a thank you page (Christmas Card 23) and a gift page (Christmas Card 24).  It would not have happened with out the amazing talents of Rachael, the inspiration from other SU Demonstrators and my wonderful supportive customers and blog viewers.  Thank you to all of you, I've just ticked another achievement off my bucket list.

This is a card I received last year but hold dear to me heart.  Thank you for such a beautiful card Rachael, and all your help with blogging, facebook, photographing and editing, not to mention your valued friendship and custom.  This card represents you as a person, beautiful, many layers/talents, colourful and down to earth.

This is by a very dear work collegue who is new to card making - Heather Baker.  You have grown so much in such a short time.  I LOVE this card and was so proud to receive this.  Thank you.

This is another beautiful card I received from a very dear customer Diane.


Heart of Christmas was featured in the 2012 Holiday Catalogue and Diane has done it complete justice.  LOVE what you did with this stamp.

Christmas Card 22

Vintage is something a dear customer of mine loves.  I made this card for her - my very first Christmas vintage card, so I hope she likes it.


Marina Mist ink pad dragged with Soft Sued.  Stamp set Ornament Keepsake (W128048 / C128051) & Greetings of the Season (W128030 / C128033), Antique Brad (117273) holding the Crochet Trim - Victoria (118481)

The bauble is on the double embossed background which is mounted on Champaign Glimmer paper which is mounted on Not Quite Navy.  The card is assembles on Marina Mist which I had dragged a linen finish ink pad all over.  The greeting is embossed in Pewter Embossing Powder (124114).

I'm getting a little vintage in to me LOL, I hope you like it too. 

Christmas Card 21

Dry embossing meets powder embossing.  Don't ask me what made me do this but I needed to play with blues, Marina Mist and Not Quite Navy.  My gorgeous little boy wanted to help with this one; Ben embossed the background using an embossing folder(in this case Lacy Brocade) and the big shot.  We / he then versamarked the embossed card, and Ben sprinkled/poured blogs of embossing powder and I shook off the excess and hit it with the heat gun.  This is the result we got after our little play...


The embossing powders I used were gold (109129) and pewter (124114), the embossing folder is Lacy Brocade (126882). The piece is mounted on Champaign glimmer paper.

This gave the most interesting finish, give it a go!  and am loving blues for this Christmas!

One card to go for my Christmas posts - and it is vintage style. 

Christmas Card 20

Delightful Decorations (W121502 / C127787) is a great set, I really enjoyed using it on cards I sent out last year.  The lovely thing about this stamp set is that it has a coordinating punch (119847) so I did not have to cut them out and could even trust my hubby to punch them out! These are examples of how I used the stamp set on cards I sent out for 2011.

It is funny how I don't realise that I am fixated on a particular stamp until the card is posted, the snow flake in the bauble is it today LOL. I hope your Christmas preparations are all in order!

Christmas Card 19

Stampin' Up! Dasher 121592, is one of my favourite Christmas stamps as I have mentioned before.  I have also mentioned that I love chalking - put the two together and you get...


On Whisper White cardstock, Dasher is stamped in Cherry Cobbler, and Lovely as a Tree 116388 is stamped in Old Olive as is the greeting 115930 Many Merry Messages. 

I've added a little bling with some Dazzling Diamonds, I think you can just see it on the antlers and I've put green glitter on the trees.

To give the card a lift, I've put the layout on Garden Green, It smartens the card up and lifts the layout

This is a very simple card using a fellow demonstrator's layout Dasher and Rollergraphs as the accent along the bottom length of the card.  

Different rollergraphs (124090 Starburst) give stunning variations to the card.

Another quick easy favourite is stamping Dasher on an ink pad drag...


How simple is this but I think it makes a lovely Christmas card.  The base card is Lucky Limade as is the ink pad drag. Dasher is stamped in Chocolate Chip as is the greeting which is from the retired set Christmas Greetings 121492

Christmas Card 18

With all of this card making, what to do with the scraps...make a Christmas Tree of course!

This is a simple wonky Christmas Tree Card, inspired by many examples on the internet.  How amazing it is to have this tool at our finger tips.  To make the tree look decorated I added dots of Dazzling Details Silver (128845) Cherry Cobbler (125585) and Dazzling Details (like Diamonds 124117).  The colours are inspired by the colours in the DSP offcuts... 


A Crafty Cat; Wild Wasabi, Primrose Petals and Certain Celery is the card stock colours I have used along with off cuts of DSP mainly from the Stampin' Up! pack Be of Good Cheer (126896)

Christmas Card 17

Card 17 takes me back to the Ornament Keepsake, this bundle is a great deal and will not be offered once the catalogue comes to an end.  This card is again simple in layout, and looks great in the flesh.  Now seeing it photographed, I cannot help wonder what it would have looked like with Red or Silver glimmer paper layered between the embossed Whisper White and Real Red base card....


Greeting is from Greetings of the Season (W128030 / C128033)

Real Red is truly stunning when coupled with a Whisper White, so love this card.

Christmas Card 16

I love Stampin' Up! Greeting of the Season, especially the font for the Merry Christmas.  Card 16 is a play with punches - Merry Minis (126882) what a cute set, and the postage stamp punch coupled with the 1" square punch and that beautifully scripted Merry Christmas - very simple but effective I think...

Christmas Card 15

I love puff paint and two years or so years ago I went crazy with it.  My Christmas examples are below - the stamp set used is from a previous mini so these are discontinued, I am sorry to say.

This I think worked very well - although with age some of the lights are a bit miss shaped.  This card tells us how old they are the green - Glorious Green - is retired.

So how do we make puff paint - so easy - equal quantities of SR Flour and Salt with enough water to make a thick custard and colour with your re-inker!  How easy is that - how do you apply? Well I use toothpicks.  How to make it puff? Heat the paint with the heat gun - it is like cooking really and watch your tiny little cakes rise (hence the SR flour).   I have other posts using puff paint so be sure to check those cards out.

This is a lot of fun so why not have a go with the children, they will love decorating the Christmas Cards with you...and then watching the paint puff as it is heated and dried!

Christmas Cards 14

A Christmas Tree under snow flakes is a simple fun card to create, and just perfect for those that love simple punch art. This lovely idea was shared with me by a very dear customer Joyce - Ben (our son)  loved the tree so much Joyce was not allowed to take her card home.  I think it is very cute, hope you do too!

The Whisper White card base is embossed with Northern Flurry (120902) from the 2012 Holiday Catalogue highlighted with Rhinestones (119246).  The tree is simply 2 scallop circles ( I used the 6cm scallop circle 118874) cut into segments of  - 6 scallops, 5 scallops, 4 scallops and 3 scallops; and layered on top of each other (I inked the edges to give a bit of definition).  I then decorated the tree with pearls (119247). The stars are punched using the star from the Punch Pack Merri Minis 126882 out of the gorgeous champaign (127885) and silver (124005) Glimmer Paper for the second card.  The greeting is from Snow Swirled (W115868 / C127799).

I then wanted to try a little bling on plain coloured card, so I sponged Wild Wasabi with Gumball Green and added the baubles with all three of Stampin' Up!'s wonderful Dazzling Details - Cherry Collber 125585, Dazzling Details 124117 and Silver Sparkle 127845. Below is the finished product.

I had actually used the silver and dazzling details on the snow flakes to give them a little bling but I cannot see that on my screen....hope you can, it is alllll sparkly like the star  :-).
