Stampin' Up! Lovely as a Tree - double layer stamping

Welcome to another post showcasing the wonderfully versatile Stampin' Up! Lovely as a Tree (WM128655/CM127793) one of those "must have" Stampin' Up! Stamp Sets the is so versatile it is Stampin' Up!'s best seller.  Today it is used on its own with parts of the tree highlighted using the double layer stamping method which incorporates mating of the stamped image.

Woodland Embossing folder (139673) is magic, and looks great when the ink pad is run over it, to accentuate the trees.
A Crafty Cat: Stampin' Up! Lovely as a Tree
 The technique is easily achieved.
1. Cut out the desired featured shapes and place on the card stock you are going to stamp on - in this case Very Vanilla on Very Vanilla, with the stitched squares held in place with a dot of double sided tape.
2. Ink your Stamp (Lovely as a Tree, in this case) and stamp heavily on your Very Vanilla card stock with positioned stitched squares.
3. You will notice a halo around each stitched square - that is where the mat comes into place.  Cut coordinating mats and adhere to the stitched squares.
4. Position the above assembly and adhere in place.
5. Sponge, water colour, accent your card as you wish and complete with a base card and greeting.

You can see the stitched squares over lapped a bit but that only added to the effect...

Love these cards, great for any male occasion, can be decorated for Christmas and even simplified for a Sympathy card.  To complete the post, one in Marina Mist...

Stampin' Up! Lovely as a Tree - double mount stamping

Stampin' Up! Lovely as a Tree (WM128655/CM127793) is one of those "must have" Stampin' Up! Stamp Sets and will be an all time favourite and "go to" for Christmas, scenery and those more difficult cards like sympathy and masculine.  It is timeless and can be used for anything from a focal point or a background image. Today it is used on its own with parts of the tree highlighted using the double mount stamping method.  The card in its basic format...

The card is stamped and brushed over with an Aqua pen.  To dress it up, restamp the image on coordinating paper and die cut (stitched shapes)  and position over the original image.

It is easy to line the images up on the original stamping - sponge the original with ink, add a contrasting ribbon, and mount on a base card.  In this example I added a panel of embossed and sponged Pinewood Planks (143708)...

From stitched squares to stitched circles and a colour swap - Wild Wasabi on the stamped panel, Very Vanilla for the focal points...

The images were stamped in Old Olive and the base card embossed in Pinewood planks (143708) and inked over directly off the pad.

The double mount stamping technique looks great! And can be created using any colour combination.
I hope you are inspired to dust off your Lovely as a Tree and start stamping - don't own one but would like too?  If you live in Australia, please contact me and I'd love to help you, or you can shop on my online shop 24/7.  Your custom would be appreciated.

Stampin' Up! "Lovely as a Tree" water coloured, masculine card

Father's Day was a great day and many of my customers gave cards of love to their Dad's or made them for their children to give to their Dad's.  Today is another example of a nice simple Men's card using Stampin' Up! Lovely as a Tree (also available in WM)and water colouring the trees simply with an aqua painter.
A Crafty Cat: Stampin' Up! Lovely as a Tree
Once the water colour paper is stamped with the "Lovely as a Tree" image, inked in Old Olive,  I ran over the image with an aqua pen and carried the ink to colour the grass.  I used a little ink from the ink left on the stamp too.  I then stamped over the image again in Early Expresso to give the appearance/definition to the tree trunk and branches.
A Crafty Cat: Stampin' Up! Lovely as a Tree
The water paper was then mounted on a mat of Early Expresso...

Then mounted on pre-embossed base card of Old Olive...

Add a greeting and you have created a quick simple masculine card!

2015 Christmas - Triple Layer cards with Stampin' Up!

Triple layer cards are in fact a card base and 5 layers of card on top or three sets of pictures framed, to give the triple effect. The concept is very striking and can be used to create a picture or used with a stamp/s repeated to form a pattern.  Both have been demonstrated in todays class, the first showcase, created by a gorgeous young lady Analyse...

Triple Layer Cards with Stampin' Up!

It is always fun to create a card trend, and this is one from a couple of years ago that has re-emerged, the triple layer card, which is in fact three sets of pictures on mats, on top of each other.  The technique is relatively easy, just required a lot of cutting out.  I love Sandi Maclver's video presentation which can be viewed HERE ... and here is what the A Crafty Cat team made in class.

The mats are taken out and the Whisper White layers are re layered on top of each other and the assembly is then stamped.

Masculine Cards - Stampin' Up! Lovely as Tree

If ever you are looking for the most versatile rubber stamp ever made, then it is Lovely as a Tree by Stampin' Up!.  It is used for Christmas, sympathy, male cards and so much more.  This class focused on the technique of embossing and sanding Stampin' Up! range of Core'dinations papers.  We also re-visited blending the ink of a stamped image with a blender pen...

Masculine Cards - Lovely as a Tree

Male cards are something I avoid, but today I am going to show you that with a stamp set you probably own (if you don't please consider adding this as it is a must have) W116388 / C127793 Lovely as a Tree.  SU have a unique Woodgrain Embossing Folder 127821 which coupled with the Core'dinations Card Stock, makes for some lovely, easily made, male cards.

Chocolate Chip base card, highlights the tree and greeting W124948 / C120681 Best Dad Ever, which is also stamped in Chocolate Chip and the green foliage and edging, was added using SU Crayons and a Blender Pen.
A closer look at the button and twine and the sanded card stock - LOVE IT.

The Bubble Gum Green Core'dinations Card stock was embossed and then sanded to reveal the lighter tones and add emphasis to the embossing.
A colour swap, Bubble Gum Green as the base card highlights the green in the tree, once again added using blender pen and SU's water soluble crayons.  A slither of Champaign Glimmer paper adds a little bling to the Expresso Core'dinations Card stock which again has been embossed and sanded.

The tree is stamped in Old Olive to give a different effect.  I often use Grey, Chocolate Chip or Old Olive to  soften the stamped image. I rarely use black on an image I am going to colour. The greeting; from  Best Dad Ever W124948 / C120681, is stamped in Chocolate Chip

A closer look at the button, twine and the Denim Jean Ribbon 125053 that sets it off - I frayed the edge of both the ribbon and twine, again to add some texture.
The edge of the Whisper White card stock is stressed and lightly coloured.

I added a heap of twine and knots to this card, just to add some texture and dimension to the card.  I wanted to offset the symmetry. I've used the same colours and techniques, but centred the layout to achieve this look...

This image is again stamped in old olive and coloured in SU Water Colour Crayons. The greeting; from  Best Dad Ever W124948 / C120681, is stamped in Chocolate Chip
I dulled down the colours, with Crumb Cake base card and I replaced the Gumball Green with Old Olive and stamped the tree in Chocolate Chip to achieve this card.

The tree is stamped in Old Olive and very lightly coloured with SU's water colour crayons using the blender pens.  The greeting; from  Best Dad Ever W124948 / C120681, is stamped in Chocolate Chip.  The layout is set on Crumb Cake.
A change of colour - Not Quite Navy and Cherry Cobbler Core'dinations Card stock coupled with the tree stamped in Chocolate Chip ...

Bold and Bright with autumn colours of yellows, reds, old olive and browns for the tree.  The greeting; from  Best Dad Ever W124948 / C120681, is stamped in Chocolate Chip
A little closer...

SU has the most beautiful ribbons, Midnight Muse Stitched Satin Ribbon mounted on Baja Breeze Seam Binding Ribbon.
How easy are these cards?  So avoid male cards no more and stay posted for many more ideas...
Enjoy the rest of your week and happy crafting,
