Triple Layer Cards with Stampin' Up!

It is always fun to create a card trend, and this is one from a couple of years ago that has re-emerged, the triple layer card, which is in fact three sets of pictures on mats, on top of each other.  The technique is relatively easy, just required a lot of cutting out.  I love Sandi Maclver's video presentation which can be viewed HERE ... and here is what the A Crafty Cat team made in class.

The mats are taken out and the Whisper White layers are re layered on top of each other and the assembly is then stamped.

Bow Builder Punch x Stampin' Up!

Bows are a great addition to a female card and so many things can be made out of the bow builder.  For this post I will concentrate on a couple of cards I made - with a bow and a flower, yes both made with the bow builder punch. Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Point and Melon Mambo are the colours used on these bows - pure and simple, I just love the white background embossed with the Arrows 132187 Textured Impressions Embossing Folders.

Triple Tier Square Easel Cards dressed with Stampin' Up!

Ben, our son, likes to create cards with me and when I was making the Triple Easel cards, yes my  focus was female cards.  Ben wanted to make a blue card and he adores the Stampin' Up! sets of "By the Tide" and "Sea Street".  I made this card for Ben, as he meticulously instructed me through out the creation :-)

2014 Catalogue Launch - Masculine Cards

Masculine cards are often said "hard to make" but my A Crafty Cat team made easy work of it when we implemented Stampin' Up! earthy/vintage colours, a large Stampin' Up! background stamp and a focus window.

Many of the girls who attended this workshop, which was held in Waterford, Logan, by Kathryn Free a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and a member of the A Crafty Cat team, were first timers to stamping.

This is their creations...

Fussy Cutting a Stampin' Up! featured card edge

Fussy cutting and edge of a row of stamping looks fantastic and is very effective on both male and female cards.  I have held a couple of classes and we made the following cards using Stampin' Up! Rubber stamps Secret Garden, Papillion Potpourri, Flower Shop and By the Tide.

Fussy Cutting is simply cutting a couple of millimetres around the stamped image - in this case we fussy cut around the flowers stamped on contrasting white card and then fussy cut the coloured base card, after adhering the feature card.

This card was inspired by Dawn Griffith, one of my favourite Stampin' Up! demonstrators.  Check her video out HERE to watch her make a very similar card - I just added a strip of Designer series paper to exaggerate the effect of the fussy cutting.
Melon Mambo on Old Olive
Add a contrasting Designer Series Paper (DSP) on the inside of the card to lift your fussy cutting, layer images and add a little bling and a sentiment and your card is finished.  So simple yet so effective.

If you need fine sizzors to undertake your fussy cutting, e-mail me and I will get for you Stampin' Up! paper snips (103579)

Masculine Cards - Stampin' Up! "By the Tide" featuring faux fossil stone backgrounds

Stampin' Up! stamp set "By the Tide" is a detailed set that is purrrfect for male cards and use on scrapbook pages for that big catch or event by the sea.  This versatile set includes coral, shell, seahorse, fish and more. Todays hand made background is Faux Fossil Stone, a background which can also be used in scrapbooking.

Traditional Marina Mist coupled with Early Expresso resulted in this card...my favourite of all the made I think...
A simple layout with the greeting from Curly Cute.
On this card I embossed the fish in Gold and the coral in Mellon Mambo and Tangerine Tango embossing powder.

I love the square lattice embossing folder; it adds real dimension to the card.  I layered the greeting on the postage stamp punch 122344 to bring forward the Early Expresso and add to the masculinity of the card.
Matting and popping a mat with Dimensionals makes the card pop.
Gumball Green, embossed with the Woodgrain 127821 embossing folder, with Not Quite Navy matting resulted in this card.
I powder embossed the coral in Early Expresso and the anchor in Pool Party embossing powder to add a little more dimension to the card.

Loving the background technique - Click HERE to learn how.

It is always lovely to show the makings of others, especially the results of a class where the ladies are new at Stampin' Up! and card making.  Bev and Lenny made the following cards using the Faux Fossil Stone Technique with By the Tide stamp set.
Bev's card used a very different colour combination of Marina Mist and Perfect Plum card stock, Gumball Green, Melon Mambo, Pewter and Silver embossing powder with Gumball Green, Tempting Turquoise and Perfect Plum ink.

Lenny was taken by the Tangerine Tango and I have to say I really love this card.  Coupled with Not Quite Navy matting and stamping the Marina Mist/Old Olive background worked a treat

Male cards are thought to be difficult to make, but By the Tide Wood Mount 129117 / Clear Mount 129120 is one set that makes this task very easy.  There are more posts and ideas using this gorgeous set so be sure to check them out.
