Christmas Card 20

Delightful Decorations (W121502 / C127787) is a great set, I really enjoyed using it on cards I sent out last year.  The lovely thing about this stamp set is that it has a coordinating punch (119847) so I did not have to cut them out and could even trust my hubby to punch them out! These are examples of how I used the stamp set on cards I sent out for 2011.
Lucky Limade and Real Redwith a sprinkle of Dazzling Diamonds (102023)

This was my favourite layout.  Hope you like it too...

Greeting and bauble are from Contempo Christmas (W121498 / C120594) in Real Red, Lucky Limade and Whisper White

A change of colour and stamp...
Card stock and Ink colours - Lucky Limade and Real Red

I made a few of these, I loved the swirl from the Baroque Motifs set (W116340 - 2011 now retired)

Garden Green, Whisper White and Real Red.  Greeting is from the set Many Merry Messages (W115930 - 2011 now retired)
It is funny how I don't realise that I am fixated on a particular stamp until the card is posted, the snow flake in the bauble is it today LOL. I hope your Christmas preparations are all in order!

See you shortly for card 21.

Christmas Card 10

Let us go back in time - to last year and pull out the retired stamp - Season of Joy, scrap ribbon and the love of chalks/pastels.  These are cards are from my card box, and now that they are photographed and posted, I guess they will go in the post. Chalking is one of my favourite techniques however SU no longer sell chalks/pastels, ink on a sponge does work very well.

To achieve these baubles simply punch out a circle in the middle of scrap card and lay it over your project.  Stamp your image over this template, allow to dry (with out moving the template) and using either chalks or ink sponge over the circle adding layers of colour and highlights by inking more heavily over one side to the other, and lightest in the middle - where the light would reflect off.  Hopefully you will get something like this...

A Crafty Cat; Stampin' Up! Real Red and Whisper White card stock, with bows of red edged gold (non SU).
Don't forget you can use the circle you punched/cut out and pop it with Dimensionals to make a card.  Cannot be wasting such a perfect circle!

A Crafty Cat; Stampin' Up! Lucky Limade base with Real Red matting, DSP and Whisper White card stock.

Chunky glitter and pink passion, what a great combination.  On this card the ink tones are much more clear.  One of the stamps in Season of Joy is this gorgeous flourish, and how it sets the bauble off.  The greeting is from Many Merry Messages, also in last year's Stampin' Up! catalogue...

A close up so you can see the texture of the sponge in the chalking and our wonderful but retired chunky glitter - I had a lot of fun with it!

I hope you enjoyed the something old, and although both stamps are retired there are many stamps you can achieve the same look with, after all it is just a bauble and how you decorate it is up to you.

For those that scrapbook, this looks great as an embellishment or background feature - no expensive paper needed here.

Happy Christmas card making and when it is time, Christmas memory scrapbooking.
Thanks for stopping by, and see you at the next Christmas Card idea
Love

Ornament Punch Art

This is a beautiful punch used mainly for Christmas, but I wanted to show you how I've used it for Christmas cards... and a little more.
The photo is not great, late at night is the only chance I get to take photos, but the idea is to show you a 3D example (LHS) of the punch and the punched out image popped onto the card (RHS).  I have used Confetti white, and real red on the LHS, Whisper white and Real red on the RHS example.  I used 121502 Delightful Decorations on both with 121500 Curly Cute and dry embossed the RHS example with 120175 Vintage Wallpaper scuffed with real red.

I do love this punch and coordinating stamp sets, in this case 121502 Delightful Decorations with 116340 Baroque Motifs and 115930 Many Merry Messages in Real Red and Garden Green yes with a little glitter and diamonds
Even when you layer this punched image it simply looks great.  121498 Contempo Christmas, glitter on poppy parade and pear pizzazz highlighting.  I made over 20 of these for people on my Christmas card list.

In reverse colours and diamonds for the Delightful Decorations centres.

So how else you can use it ? - flowers, a vase, tags or even fish (coupled with sections of the 5-petaled flower punch 119880)
There is more you can do with this punch - you can make a magnolia flower, an acorn and use it as a face for an angel or the body of an angel, squirrel or gum nut baby, just to name a few.

I will endeavour to add another sample card of ideas including the angels and any more ideas I have stumbled upon on our SU demonstrator site and everyone's best friend "Google".

Bye for now

2011 Christmas

It is Christmas and this means purchasing or making presents and making beautiful cards.  I have over 150 on my card list and the majority of them receive hand made Christmas cards, so below are examples of the cards I will be sending out this year - nice and simple but elegant !  These are also the cards I will be demonstrating at my Christmas card workshop.  Let me know what you think!

Garden Green & Real Red are the colours I've used on the stamp sets Many Merry Messages; Baroque Motifs; Delightful Decorations

Lucky Limade and Real Red look so awesome together when combined with Delightful Decorations.

To show I really did make heaps of these

Inspired by one of my wonderful customers Erin...

I made heaps of these too
Stitched Stockings on Garden Green or Poppy Parande with a bit of supernova glitter for a little bling on various dry embossed backgrounds

Poppy Parade and Lucky Limade (the 2011-13 In colours) are gorgeous together with stamp set Contempo Christmas - a great value for money Christmas set.
Same idea here but I've turned the Baroque Motifs stamp around and used a different bauble from Dellightful Decorations.

Heaps of these too...
Dasher is one of my favourite stamp sets and is amazing versatile for Christmas cards.
Dasher - one of my favourite stamps.  Choc Chip stamping and matting on Garden Green.  You can use any Christmay roller including the retired so swirley or current sparkle & shine or sassy sparkles (above) or even Starburst...and don't forget to put diamonds on Dasher's antlers
This is stunning - and really simple.  Dasher stamped in cherry cobbler, next to Lovely as a tree, stamped through a circular window and then chalked gently to give subtle colour.

Heaps of these werer made too...
