Welcome, thanks for stopping by. Today I wanted to show case a favourite layout of mine that involves reverse masking using the fantastic versatile set, "Thoughtful Branches" x Stampin' Up! The layout can be used for any occasion, sympathy, Christmas, male birthday, female birthday (done in pinks with flowers) thank you, gee lots and lots of ideas running through my head ;-)

To create the card, choose a base card and cut a piece of Whisper White 1/4 in smaller in width and height. On a scrap of cardstock - a similar size as the Whisper White above cut out the window you want to have as the sponged area. You can use a circle, oval, square, anything - I used "Lots of Labels" framelits x Stampin' Up! Place your mask over the Whisper White card stock and with a sponge loaded with ink, work the sponge over the window. to get your desired background effect.

Once the sponging is completed choose the stamps for the background and stamp these over your mask. I used Old Olive to sponge the background and the group of three naked trees inked in Old Olive.

Remove the mask and choose the foreground feature - I chose the individual tree from "Thoughtful Branches" and dressed it. Jan created hers in Marina Mist...

Stamp your greeting in a coordinating colour and then to add a little Christmas touch - we embossed the card in "Softly Falling" Embossing folder.

I saw a similar card on pinterest x Sue Vine, so thanks Sue for re-igniting my love of this layout. Reverse marking is lots of fun and very effective - love the dimension it adds to a card. If I can help you with any of your Stampin' Up! needs, please call, e-mail or SMS me. I'd love to help you.
