White Craft Ink meets Secret Garden and Papillion Potpourri

Stampin' Up! White Craft Ink is purrrfect for white washing card stock so that you can; if you wish, add your own colour and create beautiful highlights on projects.  This is a very simple technique where one powder embosses repetition images of a line image stamp on coloured card stock.  On a plate place a squeeze of White craft Ink re-inker and with your aqua pen pick up some of the ink and paint the images.  When dry the images are white washed and look absolutely gorgeous.

I used the sets Secret Garden WM131940/CM129144 and Papillion Potpourri WM132058/CM123759 to create this card...
Night of Navy cardstock highlighted with Marina Mist and Whisper White on the matting.
I then thought I'd better colour at least one flower in so then I made this card - the centre, focal flower coloured with Rose Red marker and blender pen.  Loving it, check out this BLOG for pictured instruction  on how to or check below for my basic instructions.  I like to watch videos so HERE is one for you.

Lucky Limade with Rose Red on Pretty in Pink

Then the fun began with Crumb Cake and Soft Suede cardstock - inked and coloured with Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals and Summer Starfuit - Stampin' Up! 2012-2014 In Colours.
The finished product - loving white at the moment, the crispness it add to cards is price less.

A little close up so you can see the texture of this card.
For this one I added Pacific Point and Mellon Mambo Cardstock to brighten and highlight the coloured (in the same) flowers and butterflies
 .
INSTRUCTION
  • Stamp image with craft ink or Versamark and emboss with white embossing powder.
  • Using your aqua painter and white craft ink paint the insides of the flowers and let dry or speed up with your heat tool.
  • You can leave the colouring at this or you can either colour with markers or blender pens or Aqua pen and ink.
  • A slant on the technique is to use the marker/blender pen to colour where it would be darkest ie near the shadows of the petals, flower centres etc, and with your aqua painter pull that colour from the marker over the white wash.
  • As a final touch you can spray the card lightly with Vanilla Smooch to give that shimmer of flowers.
If this is a little confusing click HERE to watch a You Tube video - got to love You Tube!
Let me know how you go with this technique - as you can see, I LOVE IT,
happy crafting,

Secret Garden on pink

Secret Garden is a fabulous stamp with coordinating die set to make cutting them out a breeze.  This is my first card made with the set, the layout cased from our SU Demonstrator website.  I just love this card so much, it might have to stay with me awhile LOL - who else keeps favourite cards?

Lots of layers always makes for a gorgeous card.
The flowers were stamped on Pink Pirouette and embossed in Melon Mambo, I then coloured the flowers in Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, Melon Mambo and Pink Pirouette.  The background is dry embossed with Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder on Raspberry Ripple core'dinations card stock, then sanded. This is layered on Raspberry Ripple and Very Vanilla.

Flower centres were highlighted with pearls to match the brad.
Stay posted for another layout using this beautiful set.  Enjoy your stamping,
Love

Secret Garden on Vellum

Secret Garden is a must have for any stamper or scrap booker, simply because it is purrrfect for card making, scrapbooking and off the page projects.  It is a set of gentle, feminine flowers with the coordinating dies - which means, no fiddly cutting out.  Now I LOVE that!  Mothers Day, here I come...

In this post I wanted to share the use of vellum and Secret Garden.  For this project, simply emboss the vellum with white embossing powder and colour the back of the vellum  (the reverse side to the embossing), with markers or blender pen with ink.  Be as messy as you like with your colouring, as the messier the better it looks on the "front" in that, it is not as even as the example below.  I spritzed my flowers with Vanilla Smooch just to give that gorgeous shimmer that flowers have.
Love these new in colours, the Raspberry Ripple and Primrose Petals goes beautifully with the Pink Pirouette. To offset the pinks I added Summer Starfruit, a yellow that is not quite yellow.

I wanted to demonstrate a card fold - in this case a gate fold with an oval highlight.  The Ovals Collection 129381, are Framelits (or wafer thin dies) used with a Big Shot machine.
The flowers are coloured with markers in (starting top LHS) Summer Starfruit, Perfect Plum, Raspberry Ripple and Primrose Petals with a little Raspberry Ripple in the centre.  Depth of colour is achieved by increasing layers of colour.

From the gate fold card to the basic fold card, but this time using the oval framelit to cut out the centre of the card so we can look through vellum at the greeting inside of the card.

A slightly different card format in Whisper White.
This is a little more tricky in that you have to make your flowers and put them to the side, make the card base ie cut out your highlight (oval, circle, square or other shape), emboss the card, stamp greeting through the front window, then stick the vellum to the riverside of the front of the card. It is then you can add the flowers, foliage and embellishments.
A mosaic of close up images of this beautiful card.
Several PLR ladies made this card, but used different base card colours and embossing folders.  These beautiful cards are the end result, from blue (Marina Mist, to Pretty in Pink, to Daffodil Delight, Mellon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry, this card looks great.
A rainbow of beautiful Stampin' Up! colours
This is a lovely versatile feminine set, with the next post displaying another technique to colour the flowers.  Enjoy your crafting.

Sense of Time

Sense of Time is one of those retired stamp sets I often use.  To show you versatility of this stamp, or any other stamp with similar images, I've put this post together for you to inspire the use of different techniques.

Polished stone is such an effective technique for stunning backgrounds...

Pale Plum and More Mustard are the colours used on this card.  The images are stamped on in Stayz-on.
Same colours but much darker...
This one was a bit over powering with the Perfect Plum and More Mustard so I put a sheet of vellum over the top...
There are many embossing techniques and this one is purrrfect for a clock - layer upon layer of clear gives that shiny glass look, a watch face has.

I often leave off the greeting simply so that I am not tied down and can use for any occasion.
 Then there is chalking
I love chalking.  It is so soft and the tones one can get... love it.

and a touch of distressing to create this look...
A little vintage on this one, with the stamping in black - Baroque Motifs is the flourish in the background with ink pad drag on the card edges.
A closer look shows how randomly I chalked the clock/watch face with greens, yellow and lighter blues.
Made for a dear work colleague, the clock is chalked and clear embossed to again resemble a clock face, the background crimped after it was stamped.

With the launch of the new catalogue and all the new stamping sketches, don't forget to pull out a retired set occasionally and rediscover why you fell in love with it in the first place.

Thank you for visiting, stay warm and keep crafting.
