Sense of Time

Sense of Time is one of those retired stamp sets I often use.  To show you versatility of this stamp, or any other stamp with similar images, I've put this post together for you to inspire the use of different techniques.

Polished stone is such an effective technique for stunning backgrounds...

Pale Plum and More Mustard are the colours used on this card.  The images are stamped on in Stayz-on.
Same colours but much darker...
This one was a bit over powering with the Perfect Plum and More Mustard so I put a sheet of vellum over the top...
There are many embossing techniques and this one is purrrfect for a clock - layer upon layer of clear gives that shiny glass look, a watch face has.

I often leave off the greeting simply so that I am not tied down and can use for any occasion.
 Then there is chalking
I love chalking.  It is so soft and the tones one can get... love it.

and a touch of distressing to create this look...
A little vintage on this one, with the stamping in black - Baroque Motifs is the flourish in the background with ink pad drag on the card edges.
A closer look shows how randomly I chalked the clock/watch face with greens, yellow and lighter blues.
Made for a dear work colleague, the clock is chalked and clear embossed to again resemble a clock face, the background crimped after it was stamped.

With the launch of the new catalogue and all the new stamping sketches, don't forget to pull out a retired set occasionally and rediscover why you fell in love with it in the first place.

Thank you for visiting, stay warm and keep crafting.

Masculine Cards - By the Tide Faux Polished Stone

By the Tide is a wonderful versatile set including coral, shell, seahorse, fish and more. Combined with hand made backgrounds (which can also be used in scrapbooking) this set can be used simply and stunningly.  Male cards are thought to be difficult to make, but the below examples show how easy it is - By the Tide Wood Mount 129117 / Clear Mount 129120

Betty made this beautiful card using the Faux Polished Stone Technique. Click HERE to learn how to do this marvellous technique.
This looks like a fossil dug up from the depth, I just love this card and the finish Betty achieved.

My card is not nearly as spectacular, but I embossed the Cherry Cobbler mat with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder 119976 and on my Faux Polished Stone background I embossed in Early expresso, Cherry Cobbler and Tangerine Tango for the majestic sea horses.
Marina Mist, Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler matting.
A closer view of the embossing, ribbon button and of course the greeting...
I am really loving the Bitty Banner dies 129267 and Itty Bitty Banners stamp set WM132022/CM126257.
More ideas using this gorgeous set are in my next post so be sure to check it out.

Delicate Doilies

Delicate Doilies is a detailed soft set that has so many looks.  This is probably my favourite card with a Crumb Cake base and a Black and Very Vanilla focus.  This card was heavily inspired by Emma Palonek, thanks Emma, I love this layout and colours.
I stamped the Crumb Cake base card with Crumb cake and a large doily.  The Very Vanilla focus card was stamped again in Crumb Cake and a large doily and mounted on Black, tied together with the retired Crochet Trim Chantilly.  The Black Doily is embossed with black embossing powder and highlighted with Rhinestone as is the Crochet Trim.
A little closer to see the embossing and those beautiful Rhinestones...

This is another card where the doilies are embossed in Black Embossing powder.  I added Cherry Cobbler matting and ribbon for some colour....
Crumb Cake and Black Powder embossing on Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, Black and then Crumb Cake as the base,
heavily inspired by a card posted on our SU Demonstrator site - Love this layout
The Delicate Doilies set is great for sponging around. I covered the Doily with a mask and made a square window mat in which I sponged Melon Mambo.
Melon Mambo and Whisper White
The Delicate Doilies stamp set is a beautiful set that is not only great for backgrounds, but stunning as a feature as well.  It does well in bright colours as well as vintage.

Enjoy your paper craft and I hope to see you again soon

Basket - Two Tags Bigz

Baskets come in all shapes and forms and this is one we made at Coffee, Cake, Craft and Chocolate Club.  The attendees made the basket from the Two Tags Bigz 115954 and took it home for decorating.  This is what each of us come up with...

Made in Wild Wasabi, I decorated my basket very simply with Daffodil Delight highlights
     119275 Dotted Scallop Ribbon Punch
127811 1 1/4" Scallop Circle Paper flower with retired brad centre
     Satin Ribbon - discontinued
The brad not only ties the handle to the basket, but looks great too!
The basket is made simply from two tags and a gusset  - you can use any width, and cut to length.
From this aspect you can see that the tags are joined together with a gusset.

Sherenne's basket is stunning.  She used a number of retired SU products including the crimper, threads, brad, greeting and the rabbit which was embossed...  and WOW

For the instructions on how to make this please visit Dawn Griffith, there is a supply list and You Tube video on how to make these gorgeous little baskets.

Enjoy the Autumn leaves, and your crafting...

Accordian cards 1

Accordion cards are wonderful fun to decorate and make a story.  The ladies at PLR had Easter on their mind and created these beauties.

The cards are very simple to make
Card dimension 12" x 5 3/4" this then fold down so the card will fit in a C6 envelope
       Score landscape on your score board at  1 1/8";  2 1/4";  4 1/4";  6 1/4";  9"
Fold the card in a zig zag pattern along scores and start to decorate

I hope you enjoyed looking and that you are inspired to make a story on an accordion card.
